Conference: Your Water - Your Future
A Conference on protecting our drinking water and protecting the Nanaimo River Watershed. Tentative dates: May 29 & 30th, 2010.

We hope to have a 2 day conference with workshops on local watershed/ water conservation issues. The tentative agenda for the conference includes:
1st Day: Tour of Nanaimo River watershed;
2nd Day:
- Speakers: we hope to feature Maude Barlow, Water Advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations & National Chairperson of Council of Canadians, Andrew Gage of West Coast Environmental Law
- Workshops - Watershed Protection, Legal Aspects, Water Treatment, ...;
- Lunch: featuring 100 Mile Diet foods in locally-made take-home pottery bowls, food prepared by a World University student chef and VIU culinary students;
- Info tables and physical relief maps of Vancouver Island watersheds.
Proceeds from the conference will be donated to the World University Service of Canada fund.
Volunteers needed! About 30 to 40 volunteers are sought to help with kitchen, greeting, bus tours, microphones, etc.
Hosted by the Mid Island Coalition of Vancouver Island Water Watch Coalition.
Next meeting: Sat., Dec. 5th - 10:00 a.m. at #11/12 - 1850 Northfield Road, Nanaimo.
